Welcome to Din Ceallaigh!

Before we go any further I'm sure some of you are wondering a few things about the site, like why there is a meshing of Celtic decor with Japanese elements like the shinai and the writing. There have been recent anthropological discoveries as far as China, Mongolia, and yes even Japan of a people more fitting the build and genetic make up of the Celts than the local inhabitants. That could very well mean the Japanese and the Celtic peoples of the British Isles once came from the same ancestors, not to mention the same geographical location. It would explain a lot about their early beliefs, customs, and out look as a people being very similar. But this site isn't about cold hard facts. That was just an interesting way of justifying why two of my favorite cultures can coexist in the same space.

As to the name, Din Ceallaigh, I'm technically mixing my Irish and my Scottish Gaelic, but as my Irish roots and Scottish roots married into one another, I figured I'd be forgiven. "Din" in Scottish roughly translates in "fortress" or "castle" and "Ceallaigh" is the ancient derivative of the family name Kelly before it was Anglosized and translates from Irish into "war." Therefore the full translation of the name Din Ceallaigh would be "War Fortress," but in this case I simply mean it as "Castle Kelly."

So what is this site all about? As a designer and artist I felt it time to make my presence known on the web. Whether it's banners, web pages, flash animations, or signature files this is the first stop for those resources. Not sure what to expect? Check out the Artwork section for some samples of my personal favs as well as a link to my dA account for a full gallery. Like what you see? Come on over to the Bio section to get contact info and the like. Couldn't remember that one site you visited the other day but remembered this weirdo artist guy was a friend of theirs? No problem! The links section will get you back on track.

I hope you enjoy your visit!
